How do I read the Sankey view?
The Sankey view uses data visualisation that to show how woody biomass moves through each stage of the supply chain and the relative size of the flows.
Use the date selector at the top of the page to switch between available quarterly reporting periods. The selected quarter refers to when the biomass was either used at Drax Power Station or sold to third party buyers.
Earlier stages of the biomass journey, such as pelletising and transportation, may have taken place before the selected quarter.`
Supply chain stages
Fibre origin
Areas where we source fibre for the sustainable biomass we produce.
Transportation
Movement of biomass by truck, train or barge.
Sea freight
Movement of biomass by ship.
Pelletising
Processing of raw fibre into the biomass pellets we produce and buy from 3rd party suppliers
Port loading and discharge
Facilities where pellets are loaded for shipment or unloaded at their destination.
Storage
Temporary holding of pellets at Drax or third party facilities before use.
Use
Facilities that combust biomass to generate renewable electricity (Drax Power Station units) or third party customers of the biomass.
