Combusted tonnage from synchronised renewable biomass only
Synchronisation occurs when the generator connects to the transmission network, from this point the electricity produced is exported to the transmission network.
CO2 emissions data in Biomass Tracker
* Drax Biomass Tracker only reports CO2 emissions related to woody and non-woody biomass.
** CO2 emissions are assembled in accordance to Drax’s Biomass Carbon Calculator methodology that has been independently verified against the Renewables Obligation Order 2015 for England and Wales (as amended) and Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2018 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (as amended).
Biomass-related data in Biomass Tracker
The biomass-related information presented in this tool, including but not limited to tonnages, certification status, and associated datasets, while derived from actual source data is provided solely to support transparency and stakeholder understanding. While care has been taken to reflect underlying datasets accurately, the information displayed here should not be considered authoritative and must not be used as a substitute for data formally reported for compliance, regulatory, audit, or other official purposes. Users should always refer to the original reporting channels and official documentation for validated and legally recognised data.
Biomass quantities displayed in the Drax Biomass Tracker are represented in metric tonnes, which serve as the standard unit of measurement throughout the supply chain.
The data presented reflects our best available information as of the publication date. Values may change in future releases as new or updated information becomes available.
Confidentiality considerations and third party data
Some information within the Supply chain and Map is aggregated or withheld to respect confidentiality agreements with third party suppliers and customers. This includes: locations of individual sawmills in the US, Canada and Europe, land transport routes, UK storage locations, as well as any data related to other locations, third party suppliers and buyers. Pellets may be temporarily kept at other European ports on route to the UK.
These measures ensure that commercially sensitive information is protected while still providing a transparent, accurate view of biomass movements through the Drax supply chain.
Marine route visualisation
Marine routes are aggregated from historical vessel trajectory data for shipments of biomass pellets between load ports and discharge ports. They are not real-time routes and should be treated as indicative approximations only. In some cases, route lines may appear to overlap land due to map rendering, route simplification, or aggregation of historical journeys; these visual overlaps should be disregarded. Marine route destinations for Asia, Baltic States, and Portugal are approximate and shown only as indicative coastal locations for commercial confidentiality reasons.
